May 2026 Newsletter · Volume 5 |

Welcome to May.
The grass is greening, the days are longer, and outdoor living season is officially in full swing across Southwest Florida. We've put together your monthly look at who we are, what we do, the home upgrade that pays you back twice over, and a special offer to help you make it happen this month. |
Who We Are
Three Decades of "Making It Rain" in Southwest Florida |
|
Shaffer's Irrigation & Outdoor Lighting has been keeping lawns lush and landscapes glowing across Charlotte, Sarasota, Lee, and DeSoto Counties for more than thirty years. That's three decades of digging trenches, programming controllers, troubleshooting valves, and turning ordinary front yards into the kind of properties neighbors slow down to admire.
A lot has changed since we started. Smart controllers replaced mechanical timers. LED transformed outdoor lighting. Florida's water restrictions tightened, and our landscapes had to get smarter to stay green. Through every shift, one thing has stayed the same: we show up, we do it right, and we stand behind the work.
Longevity in this industry isn't an accident. It's earned one customer at a time — by Ryan checking every zone before he leaves, by John taking the extra ten minutes to explain how your system works, by Chris and the entire crew treating your property the way they'd treat their own. After 30+ years, we still answer the phone. We still honor our workmanship guarantee. And we still believe the best advertising we have is a customer who calls us back.
Thank you for being part of the reason we're still here. — The Shaffer's Team

Everything Shaffer's Does — Under One Roof |
|
A lot of our customers know us for one thing — usually the service that first brought us out to the property. But you might be surprised how much we handle. Here's the full lineup, including a brand-new offering for the holiday season: |
01 · Irrigation Installation
Custom-designed sprinkler systems built around your soil, plants, sun exposure, and water source. Every zone planned, every head placed with purpose. |
|
02 · Irrigation System Repair
Broken heads, leaking valves, tripped controllers, dry zones — we diagnose fast and fix right. Most repairs handled in a single visit. |
|
03 · Irrigation Renovation
Older system patched together one repair at a time? We modernize tired systems with smart controllers, efficient heads, and proper zoning so you stop chasing problems. |
|
04 · Irrigation Maintenance
Scheduled inspections, head adjustments, seasonal programming, and small fixes before they become big ones. The cheapest service call is the one you never need. |
|
05 · Outdoor & Landscape Lighting
Pathway, accent, uplighting, and architectural lighting designs that make your home look stunning after dark — and add real safety and security at the same time. |

This Month's Spotlight
Uplighting: The Curb Appeal Upgrade That Pays You Back |
|
Drive through any high-end neighborhood after sunset and you'll notice something: the most beautiful homes don't disappear when it gets dark. They get more dramatic. The trick is uplighting — and it's one of the highest-ROI exterior upgrades a homeowner can make.
What is uplighting, exactly?
Low-voltage LED fixtures placed at ground level, angled upward to wash light across the features that make your home unique — palm trunks, oak canopies, stone columns, archways, gables, and signature landscape specimens. Done well, it's invisible during the day and stunning at night.
Why homeowners are calling about it1 |
Real, measurable home value. Industry surveys consistently rank professional outdoor lighting among the highest-ROI exterior improvements — often returning more than the install at resale, second only to landscape itself. | 2 |
Curb appeal that works 12 hours a day. Your landscaping looks good in daylight. Uplighting makes it look extraordinary every evening from dusk until you go to bed. | 3 |
Safety and security, free of charge. A well-lit home is a less inviting target. Uplighting eliminates the dark corners and shadows where intruders prefer to work. | 4 |
Pennies a night to run. Modern LED fixtures use a fraction of the power of traditional bulbs. A whole-property uplighting system typically runs on less electricity than a single old porch light. | 5 |
Outdoor living, extended. Lanais, pool decks, and patios become usable destinations after sunset instead of dark spaces you avoid. |
"
Uplighting is the closest thing we have to a home upgrade that's beautiful by day, dramatic by night, safer year-round, and — when done right — usually pays for itself when you sell. |
The work is in the design. Where the fixtures go, what gets lit and what stays dark, the color temperature, the beam spread — that's what separates a home that looks like a magazine cover from one that looks like a parking lot. After 30+ years, that's the part we love.
